  • Is hunter trials present in America?

I know hunter trials is more popular in Europe but I wanted to know if people train and show it in America. Cross country, I know is very similar, but having to show cross country in only the form of eventing isn't appealing to me. If hunter trials, is present in America with lessons and shows, some names of barns would be helpful.

    Thank you for any help!

  • How does feeding work with "sacrifice" paddocks?

When it gets too muddy or you need the pasture to recover, you move your horse to a "sacrifice area or paddock". Would you have to transition over to hay when doing this or how does that work since there is currently no pasture?

  • What is the working style of an equine nutritionist?

I know that they create diets and regimens for horses. But do they mostly work on computers, or do they analyze the horse and situation all at once and give the owner the information analyzed, etc?

  • What is the best discipline for a forward horse?

I currently do English Pleasure but my new mare is very forward which excludes us from doing calm/controlled disciplines. What discipline would be best for a fast horse excluding jumping?

  • Herd bound horse in box stall?

My horse currently lives in a pipe stall. But with El Nino coming around the corner in CA, I think I should transfer her to a box stall. The only problem though is that she is her bound. She likes to see and interact with other horses. Please any advice. If a stall is not the best idea what would work well to keep hooves dry and not getting thrush all the time?

    Thanks!

  • Diy Bareback pad?

Bareback pads are rather expensive and I was wondering if you guys had any information and directions for making my own. I am not very crafty so it has to be somewhat simplistic. But, I don't want it to look cheap.

    Thanks!

  • Does a horse working on a hard surface need shoes?

There is a "city" trail near my equestrian center that has regular concrete roads rather than dirt. My horse is not shod but when going onto hard surfaces, is it best he is shod for the occasion? I would only be walking MAYBE trotting.

    Thanks!

  • Rotational deworming horses?

I have heard that rotational deworming with horses is a good way to reassure worms and parasites do not adapt to a certain wormer. What is a good way to shop for dewormers when you plan you to rotate? Can a horse colic if new dewormers are introduced that are different from what the horse usually gets wormed with?

Thanks guys! Best answer gets 10 points!

  • How how to know if a horse if getting the proper amount of water?

I do not have a horse but should be getting one soon. I feel like this is a really big topic to know about because I heard dehydration can cause impaction and even colic. How do I know that a horse is drinking the correct amount of water? What's the best way to know he's drinking the water and what's the best way to serve your horse water? I'm not sure if automatic waterers are the most encouraging source to allow the horse to drink a lot of water.

    Thanks

  • What to feed a horse?

I have done lots of research on horse feed but I do not know what would be best to feed when I get my horse. I'll be getting a horse soon there isn't one that I have in mind and would most likely adopt but I just need some overall tips. I was thinking sugar beet pulp was a good concentrate I could feed and then Timothy hay. I know it depends on the amount of work your horse does to determine what type of food to feed like with alfalfa that is high in protein. I would only ride my horse about 3-4 times a week nothing too tiring. So I just need some help determining what combination of feed would be good for an average horse working at an average amount or so. Again I was thinking of sugar beet pulp and Timothy hay. Also I need to know how much to feed.
