How do you ask for permission to use a public area for a small event?

Me and a few friends had an idea of using a small public area for an event, nothing large and while the area is public it's also fairly hidden away from the main roads and sidewalks.

    Most public places are operated either by the town public works department or a similar state agency. You will probably need a permit to get exclusive usage of the area (otherwise anyone can walk in and use it or if they get a permit, you can be removed).

    Yes, any large family reunion or wedding party has to get permission for the area and date, also the times you're using it during that day.

    Ask the police. They will know. Don't call 911. Walk in to the police station.

    Contact the city, county, or whoever owns it.
