Why does my dog eat night crawlers and bugs.?

I have a Rat Terrier and when he goes outside he hunts for night Crawlers and bugs and eats them.

    He probably needs the raw protein. Dogs' natural diet is raw meat, which is what they should be fed, rather than commercial processed and packaged dog foods.

    Maybe because your dog knows that these insects are protein rich.
