Are owners of paintings/sculptures, paid by the museum when they lend their art to a museum?
This may not be the case, but I m assuming that collectors are paid when they loan their art to museums. Like when people pay millions for a painting, I believe that it is an investment, bc they make money by loaning the art. Is this the case, I could be wrong. Any answers from museum or curator staff thanks.

Good question.
"On loan" would indicate that there is no money exchanging hands. Wouldn't they say "on rental" if that were the case?
Different museums may have different policies about displaying private collections; you could ask a museum curator.
