We're mermaids ever real are were they just a giant hoax?

In July 2012 in response to public inquiries, and the possibility that some viewers may have mistaken the program "Mermaids: The Body Found" as a legitimate documentary, the National Ocean Service (a branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) made the declaration that "no evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found".

They are a myth, and there is much folklore (stories from sailors) to validate this "myth".

Science has presumed that they were actually Dugongs (type of dolphin) who's round shaped head was mistaken as human(s) during the twilight hours out on the ocean.
