I called in sick today?

I woke up this morning with a cold. I feel ok physically but I lost my voice and can't talk well at all. I'm on the phone all day and interact with customers all day. I feel like I can work but it's too hard cause I can barely talk. I called in to my boss who I'm pretty close with. He let me take the day off but he was short with me when I text him. I feel guilty for taking the day off cause I usually go to work even when I'm sick. Is this a lame excuse or legitimate?

If you don't call in sick all the time for no reason; it's fine to call in sick when you are.

You should have called in so they could hear how bad your voice was. Texting sounds like you're faking it.

    Sounds legitimate, you're just unlucky!

If you're asking the question then it's lame.
