why do the new driverless cars have door mirrors ?

    Probably a legal requirement - even if a human doesn't use them, they have to be on the car..

    for the same reason they have steering wheels, in case it needs human intervention. i imagine in the future, when they're isn't even a steering wheel, there won't be mirrors either
