How long have Jehovah Witnesses Claimed that Jesus Died on March 23?
We had a visit last evening from a JW. She handed me a small brochure that invited me to their special event this coming Wednesday. I never heard this one before. Was just curious.

Jesus was on Earth for 33+1/2 years, so His death and Birth is 6 months apart. So He was born Sept/Oct, not Dec 25-the pagan Holiday.
=====================
How often?
Jesus commanded his disciples to commemorate the Lord’s Evening Meal, but he did not specifically say how often. (Luke 22:19) Some feel that it should be observed monthly, while others observe it weekly, daily, several times each day, or as often as a person feels is appropriate. * However, here are some factors that should be considered.
Jesus instituted the Lord’s Evening Meal on the date of the Jewish Passover, and he died later that same day. (Matthew 26:1, 2) This was no coincidence. The Scriptures compare Jesus’ sacrifice to that of the Passover lamb. (1 Corinthians 5:7, 8) The Passover was observed once each year. (Exodus 12:1-6; Leviticus 23:5) Likewise, the Memorial of Jesus’ death was observed once each year by the early Christians, * and Jehovah’s Witnesses follow that Bible-based pattern.

Jesus was crucified during the feast of preparation which precedes Passover. The symbolism of this time is that Jesus was a sacrificial lamb. According to the Jewish calendar, this would have been toward the end of April this year. However, early in it's development the Christian Church pulled away from the Jewish calendar so that they would not have to rely on the Synagog to set the dates of special events. Since it was about 2000 years ago, the significance of the specific date that you celebrate an event is just a celebration, not the actual event. Jesus is not actually being crucified on any upcoming date. It is merely a date to remember the events. So it's kind of irrelevant what date anyone claims it happened on.

Jesus Christ died on Nisan 14 according to the biblical Jewish calendar. The month of Nisan started with the sunset after the new Moon nearest the spring equinox became visible in Jerusalem. 14 days thereafter is the Memorial date. Because of this the Memorial day is not a fixed day in our calendar but falls on a varied day each year.
This year it falls on Wednesday 23 March after sundown.

Jesus died on Nisan 14th on the Jewish calendar. That date moves back and forth on our calendar from the last week of March to the first week of April.

March 23rd is when the braintrusts at the Watchtower decided Jesus died. However, historically, evidence puts the date at April 3rd. 33 CE (AD). So, as usual, the Jehovah's Witnesses are woefully wrong. However, anybody has the right to celebrate something on any day they want, no matter how little it relates to history or actual events.

the thing with those cults like jws and adventist churches, which had the same root, is that they have been known to change their prophecies and their gullible followers still follow them blindly.
