Did I short out my outlet by turning on my deep fryer and my foreman grill at the same time?

I turned on both my deep fryer and my foreman grill at the same time and a while later, the outlet no longer works. I'm not sure if it's because I'm using two appliances at once or if the outlet was old and wiggly.

check the breaker box!! you might have thrown a breaker. Years ago it was a fuse box and we had to buy the fuses to go in them. With breaker box you flip the toggle switch to all the way off then to on! I use all the outlets in my kitchen on holidays all at the same time with roaster both ovens and all 8 burners on the cook tops and the microwave going during cooking time! NOW I have enough circuits in the kitchen that if I flip a breaker it is the main breaker out on the meter pole!! Whole house goes out!!!

  • Did you check the breaker box and make sure nothing flipped off. Some time you over laod the breaker.

If the outlet is a GFCI outlet, it should have a "reset" button right there on it.

If it's an older or non-GFCI outlet (no buttons), you may have blown the fuse. Check your circuit breaker box and see if anything has flipped from "on" to "off."
