I'm traveling to Mexico for my first time?

In May I'm leaving California to Mexico for 2 weeks my first time. I'm thinking to take only $400 usd which is 6,900 peso should I exchange it before I leave or once I get to Mexico what would the difference be.

If you are flying you need to use the ATMs that are all over the place and at all airports. Most ATMs charge 30 pesos per use. US dollars are frowned upon and some banks don`t want to get involved for fear of money laundering and the gov has limited the number of US dollars to $1500.00 per month and every transaction must be recorded on a Fed database and could take 15 minutes just for a five $ bill.

You can google it Mexico $1500.00 limit for tourists per month.

I found the best is to use your ATM card. You get the best rate of exchange and never carry a lot of money on you in ANY Country.

You should probably exchange it before you leave with your bank.
