My guinea pig is no longer pooping, could this be because of Baytril?
My guinea pig is a girl around 8 years old and was put on Baytril for a UTI three days ago. Her appetite isn t as strong as it was, but she is still eating and drinking. She s not eating her normal food as much, but she s eating a lot of hay. The problem is that she isn t really pooping anymore. Could this be because of the Baytril? Should I take her to the vet for it? I called the vet hours ago and I m still waiting for a call back. I m just worried, any help would be great!

So baytril is an antibiotic, and antibiotics really mess with the gut (no matter what species you are) because the gut is colonised with good bacteria. Unfortunately, antibiotics don't discriminate and often kill the good bacteria too, this is why it's a very good idea to give a probiotic whenever your animals is on antibiotics.
If she's constipated, then as Bethany says she needs fibre and water. Hay is a good source of fibre (and she's eating her hay, so thumbs up), but you can also try giving her some fruit. Fruit will help her poop along, and also contains lots of water so will help soften it and allow it to pass more easily. The fruit will probably have a quicker effect than the hay, so I'd give it a try.
You've done the right thing calling the vet, just speak to them over the phone and see what they recommend :)
