Why were so many movies from the early 2000s about cheating?
Most of the movies I've seen from the early 2000s are about cheating. Is there a reason for this or did people just really love cheating back then?

The industry sees what sells and copies it even after it stops selling. At some point someone made a movie about someone breaking up, and everyone liked it, so the studios jumped on the genre and made a bunch of crappy movies and no one liked them anymore.
Trends happen in hollywood.
