Can three release an update for a sim free phone to block tethering?
Ive recently moved to three from 02, i saw that it clearly states "tethering not allowed on any paygo plans" im on paygo with the all in one 20 plan with unlimmited data, i decided to test the tethering feature since im on a non modified sim free phone, and it worked! So ive been tethering and ive used about 5 GB through tethering and now ive got my phone asking to update? Is it possible for them to have send this to me to block the tethering feature on my phone?

My Three phone without warning stopped working as a portable wireless hotspot when its contract ran its term and I had to pay extra to reinstate it. I think my old phone Giffgaff (02) PYG still works with it though.
I wouldn't trust Three now. Maybe put off the update as long as you can.

they cant tell if you are tethering (data is data)
the update is most likely to fix an issue on your phone

It looks like the basic plan does not allow tethering, but the "All in one 20" add-on does.
From the info, any "All you can eat" data package includes a limited allowance for tethering.
You have to check your account to find out what that is.
