Christians; Where are all the bunnies and eggs the Jehovah's Witnesses talked about?

Where are they? I just got home from "Easter" services at my church. Now the Jehovah's Witnesses have been telling me for weeks that Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus with bunnies and colored eggs. But they were conspicuously missing from the worship service... There wasn't even a mention of them... There was a sermon, hymns as usual, centering around Jesus' resurrection, why it matters etc etc.... But no bunnies, no eggs? I like Spring, bunnies are cute, and I love birds and eggs and flowers.... All heralds of Spring, but I'm not sure what it has to do with Jesus... Should I feel cheated? Am I missing something? After all the JWs say that they're there. Where'd they go? Did they all get diverted to your church?

Come to think of it, last Christmas, Santa Claus and his reindeer didn't turn up at the church either!!!! Whats going on here???!!!

I went to a nice church service yesterday. It's weird, now that you mention it. I saw no eggs or bunnies either. They didn't say anything about that type of thing. The theme was, "He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!"

There was a very scriptural Gospel-centered sermon and it ended with me seeing a girl, whom I've known since she was little, come to the Lord. She and her 4 siblings have been coming to that church for a long time. It's sort of their home because they come from a very abusive background. I and many others have always looked out for them, fed them, taken them in and taught them about the love of the Lord, especially when it is missing at home, and I got to see what the Lord was doing in that sweet girl's heart come to fruition. Very moving and on such a beautiful resurrection day - no eggs or bunnies in sight.

Easter is set by the first full moon after the vernal equinox. This is the one day in the year when day and night are roughly equal!

It varies by more than a month over the years and so it simply cannot represent the date of anyone's death!!!

It is in fact a combination of several pagan festivals most notably the spring festival.

The name Easter comes from “Eastre” an Anglo-Saxon pagan goddess. Also the Norse goddess,Ostara who took her name from the Teutonic lunar goddess Eostre

Even the Chinese have the festival of Ching Ming where flowers and sweets are put on their ancestors graves!!

The egg and the rabbit are symbols of springtime and rebirth along with the custom of giving flowers etc!!

The Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer pointed out that the Christian church absorbed Pagan practices when it found the population unwilling to give up the festivals. Thus a lot of what Christians now see as Christians practices are in fact pagan!!!

Fun to watch the Christians worshiping a pagan festival though - makes it just like Christmas when they do the same thing!!!

The JWs have no idea what goes on in any church. They are only repeating nonsense from their cult leaders. The JWs are grasping at straws to insult every NON JW especially since the JWs have been outed in the courts all over the world for concealing their enormous pedophilia problem. I'd much rather celebrate with bunnies and eggs than follow a cult that is permissive towards child sexual abuse.

Jehovah's Witnesses are misled by their own church leaders and teachers. What the Christian Churches promote is far different from what individual Christians may practice in their homes. JW's do not believe in celebrations of any kind, least of all one which exalts Jesus Christ as God incarnate. They deny the Trinity, and therefore deny the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Father Himself. Accordingly, the Apostle John would label them as antichrists.

while i grew up with easter egg hunts, bunnies were nominal. and while i did also attend church service without bunnies when i went to the library, i did see 2 or 3 easter egg hunts in the local park. i am more inclined not to practice the whole ritual of passover or easter. except to realize that Jesus is the ONE christians remember in His resurrection.

the church i visited had a pastor that reproved 6 myths and legends of the resurrection of christ.

    hi there

no way! really? are you sure you were in a church?

jws only speak TRUTH. whatever they say god causes to become. just ask them and they'll swear it is truth.

ah well. who says labelling something TRUTH means it actually is true?
