They have two X chromosomes instead of an X and a Y, giving them different primary and secondary sex characteristics from boys, as well as a different neurological structure and hormonal balance (both of which affects behavior). There are rare cases where humans get something other than XX or XY in their genetic make-up, or there are errors in the biological process of those sex characteristics being expressed, but generally speaking the above is true.
