Is it possible to play crossplay resident evil 6 on xbox one and xbox 360?
I noticed resident evil 6 came just just yesturday for the xbox one and ps4. But lets say if I wanted to host a campaign co op game and I was on xbox 360 & my brother was on xbox one, could we both play together if I invited him to the game as xbox live does share the same network or would it not work?

no. the xbox 360 version would have to be made backwards compatible for that to happen. then, you just run the 360 version on your xbox one, and then you could have played with xbox one / xbox 360 players.
but, since they're releasing a native game for the xbox one, it would be up to the game developer to allow 360 and xbox one players to play together or not.
i would imagine you can find more info on their website, or google.
the main feature for xbox one backwards compatibility is cross play. as when you put the 360 game in your xbox one, either disc or digital, it essentially runs an emulator software to look like a xbox 360 console, just running on your xbox one. so it's only the xbox 360 server you're using, but you're just doing it on your xbox one. if that makes sense.
so, when a game that was released on an older console, and a newer version is released, similar how they did GTA V, that won't work for cross play gaming.

No.
As far as the Xbox 360 and Xbox One are concerned they are on different networks, using different servers.
