I have a serious question for knowledgeable people?

Salam,

Others can chip in as well.

So, we all know how the Sahabas play an integral part in Islamic history. They were of Arab and non-Arab descent. Among the non-Arab ones, the famous ones include Bilal (RA) and Salman al Farsi (RA). I was scrolling down the list of non-Arab Sahabas on a Wikipedia article and found some of them quite interesting. There are people I've never heard of. Here is the article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_non-Arab_Sah...

There were Sahabas from Comoros, of Tamil descent and of Pushtun descent, apparently. Muslims of those mentioned nations/ethnicities believe that those Sahabas brought Islam to their respective nations.

These alleged Sahabas are: Cheraman Perumal , Qais Abdur Rashid and Fey Bedja Mwamba.

What I wanted to ask is:

1) Are they truly Sahabas or just urban legends from those countries?

2) If they are real, what are interesting reads on them?

3) If they are false, why would people of those nations/ethnicities believe those legends?

Jzk

Update:

What I also wanted to ask is, is there a possibility that Islamic scriptures might have just omitted them but they still existed?

    Asalam Alaikum

    I don't know much about the Sahaba(May Allah be pleased with them all), it's an area of study that I have not read much about. I am sure there are some others on here that may be able to give you the answers you need. I just wanted to say to please don't use wikipedia as a source of information, especially about important things like Islam. I am not saying you can't find correct info there, but it's still not trustworthy my friend.

    Wa alaikum salam.Sahabahs were companions of Muhammad pbuh who lived in his era.Most of them were Arabs because Islam was given by Allah to Muhammad the Arabic prophet and it spread out from Arabic peninsula.(Middle East) then to Northern Africa and to southern Europe and then after Muhammad passed away through out the world.Yes you are right that Bilal was one of Companions came from Africa(Etiopia) so he was a black person.He was the first person who performed adzan caller .Salman Al Farizi was a companion came from Parsi.He was wellknown in handak(ditch) war.I do not know other companions who were not Arabs

    Sahaaba means Someone who see each other with Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) and became a Muslim, he becomes Sahaba.

    it is likely they are savants, Scholars existence is based on two things:-

    (1) most of them have come from Arab.

    (2) they had embraced Islam through migration

    ~~~~had to go, will cont. later.~~~
    1) Hazrath Bilal (RA), Hazrath Salmanul Farisi (RA), and Hazrath Suhaibu Rumi are truly Sahabas.
    2) Search Google and get the biography of these companions of the Prophet. Biography of Salman: http://www.inter-islam.org/Biographies/Salmanfarsi... Biography of Suhaib: http://www.sunnah.org/history/Sahaba/rumi.html; Biography of Bilal: http://www.alahazrat.net/islam/hazrat-sayedna-bila...
    3) They were true and close companions of the Prophet (SAW) .
    Cheraman Perumal, of Kodungallur, Kerala, was the first Indian to accept Islam. Many historians have recorded this fact in their writings. For example, M. Hamidulla writes in “Muhammad Rasoolullah” quoting some old manuscripts from India Office Library (ref no. Arabic, 2807, 152-173)
    “There is a very old tradition in Malabar, South-West Coast of India, that Chakrawati Farmas (perhaps another name for denoting Cheraman Perumal) one of their kings, had observed the splitting of the moon, the celebrated miracle of the Holy Prophet at Mecca, and learning on inquiry that there was a prediction of the coming of a Messenger of God from Arabia, he appointed his son as regent and set out to meet him.
    He embraced Islam at the hand of the Prophet, and when returning home, at the direction of the Prophet, died at the port of Zafar, Yemen, where the tomb of the “Indian king” was piously visited for many centuries.” Please visit the web site :http://www.jaihoon.com/454.htm regarding Cheraman Perumal. Cheraman Perumal embraced Islam at the hand of the Prophet SAW. He was named Tajuddin by the Prophet SAW.
    Qais Abdur Rashid (575–661) (Pashto: قيس عبد الراشد‎), also known as Kasay, Kish and Imraul Qais Khan, is the legendary founding father of the Pashtun nation. Qais is said to be the first Afghan who traveled to Mecca and Medina in Arabia during the early days of Islam. Traditional Afghan genealogies list him as the 37th descendant of King Saul (or Malik Talut), through Malak Afghana, a grandson of King Saul. In Afghan tradition, Qais was born in the Ghor region of Afghanistan. Upon hearing about the advent of Islam, his tribe sent him to Medina in modern day Saudi Arabia. He met the Prophet Muhammad and embraced Islam there, and was given the name Abdur Rashid by the Prophet. He then returned to the region of Afghanistan and introduced Islam to his tribe. Please visit the web site:http://www.worldlibrary.org/articles/qais_abdur_ra...
    Islam was brought to the islands during the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam’s lifetime by two Comorian nobles, Fey Bedja Mwamba and Mtswa Mwandze, who visited Makkah. Arab merchants and exiled Persian Shirazi princes played a role in introducing Islam. He was a sahabi. Please visit the web site: http://islamicfocusarticles.blogspot.in/2009/05/is...
