How does PcSing work when hubby is stationed overseas and we live in the states..BUT we are now with him here and moving together?
Not sure how the military handles this...if they try to get me and my daughter a plane ticket to the next base from our home state can we just deny it and do that all ourselves? They don't have to handle all of me and my daughters travel do they?

If you are moving stateside to stateside then they will fly him to you and you travel together to his next assignment. They will pay for gas, food and lodging. If you cannot drive or have a vehicle they will pay for your flight.
If you mean going to him at the overseas location you cannot just pick up and go. You need command sponsorship first and foremost. No sponsorship and it's a foreign country then no visa to stay, no housing, etc... You can also be flown there via space a as well.
Why would you want to pay out of pocket when they will pay for it? Often they do get better deals than you can.

No, and I will tell you why.
Say, you oh so badly want to be hear your sweetie. Then you go ahead and pack your things and travel to, say, Germany, where he is stationed.
When you arrive, then you are not command sponsorship, that means that the military doesn't have any housing for you and he is NOT authorized to receive any money to put you in a hotel, because you are not authorized to be there. So it will be out of pocket expense for you until he gets the proper clearance, and that takes months, sometimes a year to get.
He can also get in trouble and receive verbal or written reprimand, or worse, for not following orders and bring unable to control his woman. Yes, you can and will get him in trouble for just showing up, child in tow, without the proper immunizations, visas, empty screening etc. that are REQUIRED when traveling as a family member of a soldier on a host country.
So pumpkin, there is more to "what you want" and your immediate satisfaction. HE needs to do the paperwork like everybody else. Yes, rules apply to you too.

if you want to be reimbursed for the travel yes it must go through them. you may have some flexibility with the details like flying on a certain day that can be negotiated but they prefer to use AMC. fortunately many of these flights are now commercial in all the respects that matter.

no, you can't just do it yourself
unless you plan on paying for it yourself
