full frame lens on aps-c camera?

i kinda understand that if you use crop lens on a full frame camera, you will get a picture with shadow on the edge. what about using full frame lens on a crop sensor? what would the pictures look like? I just bought the sony a6300 using the kit lens. i might consider the G-master lens. but not sure.

You should have no problems using a full-frame lens on a crop frame camera (except possibly with mechanical and electronic coupling, depending on model). The full frame lens more than covers the area of the crop frame.

With tele lenses you get more "tele" effect (a 135mm lens works as a 200mm lens). Conversely a wide angle lens loses some of its angle, so a 24mm lens gives the effect of 36mm on crop frame.

It will work fine and you have the added bonus that the cropped sensor will be using the sweet spot of the projected image. The only down side is the size & weight of the full-frame lens will be greater than an equivalent lens built for and APS-C sensor.

You can always use full frame lenses on crop cameras. The reason you can't always use crop lenses on full frame is that the image circle projected on the sensor is smaller than the sensor is. This isn't a problem when using full frame lenses as the image circle is larger.

You will be paying a price in money and weight for a lens to cover a wider field than you need. But it will work.

It won't affect what you see, but the sensor will only be capturing a portion of the image circle.

Kind of like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.
