can xml documents created by LibreOffice writer be opened by Microsoft Word?

My Microsoft Windows 2010 can't be registered because I've installed it too many times. So, I'm trying out the free LibreOffice writer. I can open Microsoft word documents but when it saves it saves as an xml document. I'm concerned that if I send a cv in this format it can't be opened and read by someone using Microsoft word.

Word can open XML just fine, but why use XML? Surely you have other options than a markup page?

Open something in LibreOffice Writer, then choose "save as" instead of save, and select something a little more text-file-like.

You have been using computers long enough to know what the word HELP! on a task bar means, why don't you try clicking on it and using it. Also you should join the Libre Office users forum for all Libre Office questions. Web link below for you. To answer your question...
