What reasons other than to stop Trump are there for Kaisich to stay in the race?

The numbers just don't add up. Is he the GOP's choice for the contested convention?

There is a Kasich plan for getting the nomination. If Kasich can do well in the states that vote on April 19 and April 26 (mostly the mid-Atlantic states) and in California, he can potentially get close to 500 votes on the first ballot.

His hope at that point is for the party leadership to be "sensible." In Kasich planning, the leadership recognizes that Trump and Cruz can't win in November and he can. At that point, Kasich hopes that the party leadership thinks it is better to pick the candidate who finished with about 25% of the popular vote (a close third) than to pick a candidate who did not even run. The problem with Kasich's theory is that the party activists in the states may be more inclined to support Cruz even as the national leadership fears Cruz being the nominee.

I would put Kasich's chances at puling it off at less than 10%, but there is a real chance still.

you're right. none of the other candidates by themselves have anything near the delegates trump has accumulated, but, together they can keep him from getting enough delegates (1237) to clinch the nomination. they're hoping for a contested convention and to swing enough of trump's delegates to one of the other candidates. i find that extremely unfair and extremely undemocratic. if trump can win the plurality of the votes, he deserves the nomination, even if he should fall short of the magic number of 1237 delegates. the people have spoken, and the people's vote should count.

I cant defend Trump anymore, too many women unwilling to vote for him. Hillary is beatable if we pick the right person.

None. Neither Cruz nor Kasich can win against Hillary.
