Why is Yahoo Answers so Depressing?
So basically, I like helping people, so I try to answer as many questions as I can, why is it that I always come across these suicidal depressed people? And why do I feel so helpless, like I just want to help people!

I've answered psychology and mental health questions for a long time. Yes, it can be frustrating, although at times rewarding.
The responsiveness of the questioner is to a great extent a function of the complaint. People who complain of anxiety are much more responsive than people who complain of depression. This is understandable. Pessimism is one of depression's symptoms. If logic says something will help, the person's frame of mind says it won't. People who complain of self-harm, e.g., cutting themselves, are very unresponsive. I have speculated as to why but I'm not sure.
The Psychology and Mental Health departments have a lot of people who insult questioners who complain of problems. It may be that many of these insulting people are misguided but mean well, that is, think they can straighten questioners out with "tough love" advice like "think about people who have real problems." However, the evidence shows that much of this is simply malice. I've noticed that the malicious answers tend to be from males to female questioners, and it suggests the frustration of boys who can't score with the opposite sex.

It depends. People are of different type, kind and category. There are several reasons for this. It may be due to jaundiced-eye, partiality or bias. Put the blame squarely on the subjective mind of the individual who thinks like this.
