Can an employer force and employee to send their picture out to customers?

The company I work for is saying we have to send out picture out to customers (some that we never even spoke to or heard of). I told them I am not comfortable doing this. I was never told this when I took the job six years ago, this i something new. Can they force you to do something so personal like that?

They're not "forcing" you to do anything. They're making it a requirement of the job, which is perfectly legal. You have the choice to do it, or to find a new job.

Forcing you would be holding you down against your will, taking the picture and sending it out without you being given a choice.

Yep. It's a picture of you. What you look like isn't a secret. Thousands of people see your face every day. You probably have a Facebook page, right? Same thing.

Sure. Not sure how a picture is personal. If you were interacting with customers in real life they would know what you look like. They are just trying to personalize it.

    No, they can''t force you.

Neither can you force them to continue to employ you.

It is a new requirement in your job, no different to photos and names on a board at a front reception, or on the company website....... no one is forcing you, you can always refuse, find yourself another job and leave

They are not forcing you. They are requiring you to do so. You can say no. You can also be fired.
