my 50 pound pitbull dog is starting to develop gum disease and tartar?

What is the best home remedy or what can I purchase or do that will help with this?

It needs something to chew on. That is how they keep their teeth clean. You could try and take your thumb nail and break off as much as you can. Depending on how bad the tarter is you may need to take the dog to the vet. You probably need to anyway if you think it is getting gum disease. Gum disease if let go to long will send bad bacteria into the blood stream and can damage internal organs which can lead to death.

Get the teeth cleaned and then give the dog bones to chew on. Our dogs don't chew on bones, however, and this can cause more tartar.

I actually scale the teeth on my own because one of my dogs develops tartar within one month from cleaning. You could brush the teeth, daily, offer bones and then get your dog used to your scaling them. Do this on a gradual basis, offering treats between scraping.

He should have a wellness check with your veterinarian and you should request a dental estimate. If you don't get his teeth taken care of the gum disease can affect his organs.

After getting a dental you can brush his teeth, or use vetzlife spray (I personally use this for my pets and it works wonders), and there are also chews (oravet is a good brand, so are greenies).

Have your dog's teeth cleaned by a vet, then feed lots of raw meaty bones so the dog can keep his own teeth in good shape from there on out.

Get them cleaned by a vet first, then continue to feed him raw bones. My dog chews them occasionally and his teeth are clean and white. I've never had to brush them.

Get your dogs' teeth cleaned by the vet first, then start brushing his teeth. They have special toothpaste for dogs.

I use a finger toothbrush, it sticks on my finger.

Um, no home remedy for that. You need to have your pet's teeth cleaned by your vet.

Get large soup bones (beef) for him to chew on.
