What do I feed my baby rat?
I started feeding her hamster food when I brought her home last night because I had some left over from when I had my hamster but I don't have much left and didn't realize I didn't have much left and was wondering if there was anything I could give her till I can get more food.

In the mean time, she can be fed cereal, grains, bread, fruits, veggies and nuts. Avoid anything sticky or thick, as they can sometimes choke on goopy things. When you do buy her rat food, make sure to get a good well-balanced lab block like Regal Rat or Mazuri. Seed mixes are not good for rats as they don't have complete nutrition and can lead to obesity and skin problems. You should also continue to feed her the grains, fruits, nuts and veggies along with her regular rat food for variety and health :) And consider getting a second rat! Rats are very social creatures and do best with another rat partner.

You can feed her almost anything actually. I reccomend Cheerios and meaty bones. Next time you get her food, get her baby rat food, too.

Since you mentioned hamster food, I m guessing your rat is fully weaned? If so, you can give them certain fruits and vegetables. Look up online what fruits and vegetables they can be fed :)
