Many people add coconut oil their dog's food and in most cases it's a good thing. With that said, I took the liberty to look at your last question, and it appears that your puppy has some sort of rash/skin condition. Know this, I think it would be best if you call your Vet and ask them this question, but it's my opinion that coconut oil should be ok to put on the pup's food. Again, this is my opinion and only my opinion. A phone call to your Vet is free.

I use coconut oil on my Chihuahua's food everyday as it does have many benefits for dogs. It can help with dry skin, to help get rid of fleas and so on. I highly recommend that you research this stuff and read at the many benefits that it provides for dogs. Just make sure you are only giving a teaspoon amount!

I'd be very wary of doing this with a young puppy like this. Provided he's on a good quality puppy food, one that's not cereal-based, I don't see he should need this. Yes, we'd add a teaspoon of Mazola oil to our adult dog's diet during the Winter months to help prevent drying out via central heating.

If your dog has an existing skin condition, I think you need to find out why, what it is, before using supplements most of which will be in a good quality food already. It is possible to over-supplement and do more harm than good.

Coconut oil has a lot of benefits for dogs. However, your dog needs the vet and this puppy needs the vet now!!!
