Even though the first amendment protects hate speech, is there any way we can make it impossible to say hateful things?
I know we can't ban hate speech in the USA because of the stupid first amendment (an amendment written by slave owners, so I don't know how it has any validity) , but is there a way we can make it so unacceptable that no one will dare say such things.
I think we have done a good job, especially with the owner of the Clippers, Mel Gibson, the president of U. of Missouri, Hulk Hogan, etc. We need to step up efforts and shun and humiliate anyone who goes off the path.

The 1st Amendment does not protect hate speech.
It states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The freedom of speech it guaranties is the freedom from retribution from the government.
It does not protect you from any civil or criminal consequences from your speech, for example, a slander or liable law suit, or yelling fire in a crowded theater when there was none, and injuries or death resulted from the stampede of people.

Calling the first amendment stupid is hate speech. Also saying f@$! The police is also hate speech, the first amendment gives freedom for anyone to express how they feel, within limitations.

There are thousands of brain dead college students busily engaged in making sure no one ever says anything within their hearing that might shock their sensitive souls. They do this by labeling everything they disagree with (meaning anything said by a conservative) as hate speech. Whether it involves hate or not makes absolutely no difference.

It's a free country. You can take any steps you want to deter speech as long as you act within the confines of the law.
