Help picking a new gpu?

I haven't used my pc for while but dusting the off this weekend. I currently have 2x hd7850 in crossfire but looking at getting a single card and selling the 7850s. What would be the estate option for me.

Current pc specs

Asus Sabertooth 990fx motherboard

8gb ddr 3 1600 ram.

Fx 8350 cpu @ 4.8ghz liquid cooled.

2x hd sapphire oc 7850 crossfire @ x16

Ocz 120gb ssd

1tb 7200rpm sata hdd

I have order another 8gb ram to increase it to 16gb but no idea what the best gpus are nowadays.

Budget would be £150 to £200

Games to be played are first person shooters.

First of all, are you an AMD fan? If so, I would reccommend the R9 390X. It's a great card, but it depends if you want to spend a little over what you would get for your current GPUs. IMO you shouldn't experience any bottlenecking with that CPU, however don't take my word for it. I've never used that CPU before.

If you can't find the extra cash, buy an R9 280. They're about as powerful as the GTX 960 (spoiler!), and can run BF4 at a decent 60FPS at 1080p.

If you prefer Nvidia, like I said above, go for the GTX 960. Probably better looking than the R9 280, but in terms of output quality they're both on par. Build-wise, at least the Nvidia card won't set on fire :)))

My favourite is the GTX960, but if you're willing to put in the extra cash, definitely go for the 390X. It won't fail you, and it's probably the best option that will last you a good few years. Good luck!

if you can wait until june, id wait for Polaris gpus. they will be using HBM2 which is insanely fast compared to gddr5.

2 7850s is still pretty viable. should play most all games on like high settings at 1080P.

if you cant wait, 390 are the best options for the money.

390 would be the cheapest single card you could buy thats better than yours. But it really wont be very much faster. Not sure about your prices but i think that card is already beyond your budget. 980 would be the only meaningful upgrade and that is way beyond your budget.

Makes the most sense to stick with what you have, maybe switch to newer cards when one ones come out this summer, but even then if you are playing 1080p it will still be unnecessary.
