Car speakers blew out. What should I do?

Alright, I completely screwed up and need advice... I got a new car recently and it had an odd smell. In order to clean it, I poured a lot of water on the interior (now knowing this is a HORRIBLE idea!) About a half hour ago, when I was still cleaning it, the speakers kept making a squealing noise. Now I realized it was an idiotic idea to pour water with a lot of electrical wiring. Are my speakers completely shot? I don't want to start it again until it completely dries...

Good chance they will just dry out and work fine again. Don't use them at all for a few days though. If they are paper cones even slight use could physically damage them. You would be surprised how much rain water ends up getting in the inside of a door and just drains out the bottom naturally. Often stock speakers aren't shielded in any way.

Were the speakers squealing with the radio turned on, or while it was turned off?

If they were squealing without the system being turned on, it means you probably damaged a factory amplifier or the factory radio, instead of (or, in addition to) the speakers.

What's the year and model of the vehicle?

Pull out all the carpets and lay them in a sunny place they can dry, otherwise they will stay wet and mold. What happened is electrical connections were shorted. How bad the damage is, you'll only know after all the moisture is gone.

Buy new speakers, and don't wash the inside of your car again.
