Questions about small claims court?

I was ripped off by a company regarding a prize and there are elements of fraud in the case. What if I won the case, could the judge recommend the case to the county or state so they could be charged for the fraud? It s in Ohio.

Fraud is reported to the police first and foremost. If you were really ripped off, you file a police report against the company.

If you take them to small claims court and win, nothing will happen to them legally. The judge doesn't report them to the police. That's something you need to do if you feel a crime has been committed

Normally you sue in civil court AFTER it has gone to trial in criminal court

No, they don't recommend criminal action. If you think there is fraud, report it to the police or your state attorney general's office (who often goes after fraudulent companies.) Of course, they have a republican attorney general, so he probably won't do anything.

No, that is not the judge's duty.

The judge is just there to rule on YOUR case.

"Prize" suggests that this is a contest or a gift situation. Its unlikely that your not getting the prize that you expected is fraud.
