  • Why is it that with Norfolk Southern, it seems like they are the only railroad hiring conductors right now but other Class I's aren't?

It's been about 3 years since BNSF or UP has posted such positions and roughly 10 years with CSX. Well not exactly 10 years with CSX, they did post a conductor position for both Florida and Ohio twice, but then they cancelled it. Why is it? I have a friend trying to get in as well.

  • Why do defendants refuse to answer summons ?

My friend is in the middle of a small claims suit involving 1 large company and 1 mid sized company. The large company responded to the summons off the bat while the smaller one kept pushing it off. It s delayed the case twice already. I ve once been told this is a common occourance where people or companies ignore summons to appear. My friend actually doesn t care that they didn t answer because it s a default judgement anyways if they don t come forward within 28 days. Can the other company get into trouble for doing this?

  • Can I get in legal trouble for this?

The other defendant hasn't picked up their summons yet since April 7th, 2016 and have until the 22nd to pick it up from the post office. Should I put them on blast on twitter that they need to pick up their summons at the post office so I could go to trial already. I got the tracking number from when I filed the case and its public record so I know where the letter is. Will I get into legal trouble if I did?

  • Questions about small claims court?

I was ripped off by a company regarding a prize and there are elements of fraud in the case. What if I won the case, could the judge recommend the case to the county or state so they could be charged for the fraud? It s in Ohio.

  • Got a question about RR Unemployment?

How come every time someone gets furloughed, they complain about not having money? One dude I know was working a long time and was making close to $80,000/year, which equals $6666.67/month, and he got laid off. How does someone bringing that much home a month before layoff not have any cash left over? I could see if he was making $15,000 a year, got laid off and only got 1/3 of his income on UC benefits, but not off of $80,000.

  • Has anyone ever had problems with DraftKings' "VIP Prize Packages"?

DraftKings got really big starting in 2012 and at first, they only did baseball. When other major sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, etc. began taking notice, they would sign these huge lucrative licensing, sponsorship, and cross-promotional contracts with them to attract new users to the site. Each time they would do this, they would give out these "VIP Experience" prizes where the winner would get cash, some tickets, and hotel and travel paid by them as the prize. Has anyone else ever won one of these contests up in here? I did and they told me some ornery BS that I would have to use the cash prize they given me to pay for the hotel and transportation because it was "subject to availability". I believed them and went and come to find out later they were supposed to pay for it. Has someone else ever won this VIP Experience and had them tell you the same lie. I didn't find out until much later they were the ones that were supposed to pay for it but they used the "subject to availability" lie to get out of paying for that portion of the prize.

  • During the 2003 blackout, how badly did it affect rail service?

In 2003, we had a major black out and I was wondering if they still allowed trains to come and go in the area. Were things like railroad signals still working or did they have their own backup generators to keep them on?

  • Do I have a good legal case if I found out if a promoter ripped me off?

I won a prize valued at $3500 but did not receive the entire package lowering the value of the prize to $1500 and my tax liability as well too. It was supposed to have hotel and travel accomodations, tickets, and a cash prize portion of $1200. It was also subject to availability. I got the tickets and the $1200 in cash, but when contacted about it, I was unwittingly lied to that I had to pay for the hotel and travel because the hotel and travel portion ran out of funding and due to the subject to availability I had to pay for it using the $1200. I found out later that was a lie and they received the $2300 to accomodate me fully. I did not find this out until later on after I accepted the prize.

  • Do you think Danica Patrick will show up to the 2015 Sprint Cup Award Show or she still salty about being roasted?

In 2013, Jay Mohr roasted her and her boyfriend and both got sour about it and she kinda got catty over it. Others were roasted by him and they took it with a grain of salt. When he hosted it again in 2014, she didn t even come at all along with her boyfriend. Now that Drew Carey is hosting it, do you think she will show up or snub it again?

  • Was there ever a US President that has ever attended a NASCAR race?

I know some have visited basketball or baseball games, but what about racing? I think tennis, Indy, F1, and wrestling were other sports US presidents have avoided as well too.

  • Besides seniority, what determines who gets a call back sooner from a furlough?

There is a group of dudes at my railyard that were with the company for about the same time and all of them started training and came to the yard at the same time as well. All of them were at one point furloughed, but they keep on calling back a few core favorites from the group and its the ones that are actually hard working. Could this play into the fact as to why the others didn't hardly get calls to come back to work? I know that with one dude who hasn't been called back yet keeps putting the company on blast about it on the company's Facebook page and I don't know if word got back to HR about that posting what he is posting and this is why he hasn't been back. I kept texting him to quit doing that or he'll get into trouble for it but he wouldn't listen. Do they also blackball people like that who keep putting the company on blast like that too and who are furloughed?

  • Help with a railroad question?

I just got hired in to Norfolk Southern a while back and during the hiring session, I brought along a neighbor with me to the hiring session. I made it through the first go around-she didn't. When she went, she only had her temporary license, but they still interviewed her and allowed her to take the assessment test as well and stay for the hiring session. They asked about it initially and she told them that she's going to take her driving test pretty soon and she would have her regular drivers license before they even start training. She's a really good driver-she lost her licesnse because too much time lapsed when it expired and she had to start all over again. Something happened and she was unable to take the test-I guess car trouble. In the meantime her temps expired and she had to hurry and get another one and it was the day before Norfolk Southern would be back in town. Thinking that she would be able to sit in for the interviews again, she shows up with it and tries explaining to them that she already has the exam rescheduled, but they immediately turn her away. Why would they let her in the first time with the temporary permit, interview her and all, but not this go around? I asked her was the same people there and she said all of the same people who interviewed us were there except for the conductor who was not there, but was replaced by some bleach blonde HR lady. She was the one that told her to leave. They wouldn't even allow her to stay.

  • Why does it take sooooo long for railroads to get back to applicants?

Going back from what I had went through, why is it that other jobs are able to tell you within a few days or a week to tell you whether or not you got the job but with railroads, it can take 2-3 months. Many large companies or corporations use the same job application software, do the same assessment tests on their candidates, use the same technology that kicks out unqualified candidates out the system as the railroads do, yet railroads are pain stakingly slow. What exactly do they do with the applcations? It cannot be blamed either on the volume of applicants either because I bet there are some places that get way more applicants for one job than the railroads do.

  • Need help with NASCAR fantasy!?

I have in this order : (1) Kevin Harvick, (2) Martin Truex, Jr, (3) Dale Earnhardt, (4) David Regan, and (5) Travis Kvapil for my NASCAR fantasy picks. My dilemma is, do I give Dale the boot for Jimmy Johnson since he has better odds at winning at the race track or keep Jr. since he qualified better than Jimmy and was way better at practice than Jimmy. Disregard my #4 and #5 picks-I just picked them because we needed 5 people to be able to get points and I usually use them two spots as fillers so that I can earn points.

  • Is it a possibility for a NASCAR driver to ever win the amount of wins Richard Petty had in one year or no?

With all of the changes NASCAR has gone through in regards to different cars being used, different aerodynamic packages, different drivers, etc., would it be hard for any driver to achieve this today.
