Insurance cancellation what remedy is available in Texas?
On January 31st, 2016 I began auto insurance coverage with Nationwide. I indicated that only my wife and I, of the drivers in our household at the time operate our vehicles. My policy premium was paid, and I was issued my ID cards all online. On March 11th, I receive an email from someone at Nationwide saying that I need to either have the other household drivers rated, or excluded. I could not simply exclude them, either apparently. They wanted specific reasons why I would exclude them and not have them rated and added to my policy. I replied to the email saying exclude them both and never got anything back. They cancelled our insurance, after the 60 days of initial coverage, for what they call failure to disclose someone as a driver, who was named on original application as not a driver.

The good news is that during this time you did not have an accident, so no claims were filed. Also, if any of those drivers had been in an accident, then Nationwide would have denied your claim for misrepresentation, or fraud.
Bad news is, that for any future insurance you get, you must disclose ALL licensed drivers in your household. The problem with excluding someone is that they can never, ever, never, ever drive your vehicles, and if they do, and in an accident, then insurance won't pay a dime.
Appears that these other 2 people have either a lot of tickets or past accidents, so need to be rated on any (future) auto policy. The reason for adding or excluding is that it is "expected" at some time, either one of them will drive your vehicles and is expected since they live there. It just takes 1 time that they run to the grocery store for you that they end up in an accident, due to bad luck.
I am just giving you a heads up, since as a retired auto adjuster had too many claims that I denied that the policyholder had excluded a driver.

Nationwide is on your side? My wife used to work for them and no they aren't. Seriously, what do you want? They cancelled so go with someone else. I'd recommend Farmers. Good rates and a local agent you can actually talk to in person.
