My Giant Snauzer is scratching himself to pieces. He's on a very expensive Anti Biotic which seems to have no effect. Any suggestions?

I'm not a vet, but we had a Cocker Spaniel that had a horrible skin allergy to fleas. The vet prescribed veterinary tar shampoo (for the seborrhea ), an anti biotic for the secondary skin infection, an prednisone pills (steroids). The dog was on steroids his whole adult life. The pills worked and his skin was clear and the fur grew back as long as he took the pills regularly, stop the pills, and the symptoms would come back. I would go back to your dog's vet and ask him is there isn't something more that they can give your dog.
