Who will gain from the pay increase ?

Ignore the rhetoric about $15-an-hour being for working Californians—it’s all about government unions flexing their muscles to squeeze more from the taxpayer. The only problem being that the government which pays the unions will eventually run out of other people’s money.

Higher wages means higher taxes, the gov wins. The workers do not, higher wages equals high production cost which means higher cost to the consumers. The first few states that do this will get a bang for their buck do to products made elsewhere being shipped in, much like the low cost of labor in China keeps the cost on many products down. Eventually though, as more state do it, those gains will go away.

Most union jobs already pay far more than $15 an hour.

So how exactly is a $15 minimum wage helping unions?

And why do you think the government pays the unions?

Are there government employees that are part of a union? Yes.

And they are paid for the work they perform.

And probably all of them are already making more than $15 / hour.

It is amazing how Conservatives believe that broadly applied laws are only going to apply to liberals...
