my betta fish doesn't have a hiding spot?

my betta fish (Oscar) live is a happy guy, has a proper diet, I give him variety to eat.

since I love Oscar, I did some research and found out that betta fish are scared of open water, Oscar has some seashells at the bottom of the tank, but none he can really hide into. Now my question is; should I go get a plant or some sort of box for Oscar to hide into? I don't want him to live in fear and anxiety

I would use live or silk fake plants, tall ones that reach the surface.

Other good things are smooth decorations that are large enough so we won't get stuck in them. Decorations that allow them to swim all the way through are also great.

Not all bettas need hiding spots but the are recommended:) Some of my bettas have them but dont even go near them...but bettas are very smart and curious fish so i would suggest getting a couple silk plants and a hut:)

If oscar was my fish i would get him some plants. They don't have to be real they could also be fake. It depends on how big the tank is to decide on how many plants to get.
