Why is it people get a new horse feel the need to change his name and then ask complete strangers for the new name?
especially without telling us what sex color breed personality habits.

"Why is it people get a new horse feel the need to change his name and then ask complete strangers for the new name?"
a lot of times horses come with weird names or names people just dislike..
I've gotten horses that don't even have names and are just referred to as "the horse", their color, their gender, or their number(brand number or auction number).
But, it is sometimes just nice to hear an outsiders opinion/thoughts on the matter.
" especially without telling us what sex color breed personality habits."
for most people, most of those qualities have nothing to do with naming a horse.
or it is a personal memory or significance when it comes to personality or habits, so it is not really productive to add that information...
Good luck!

the only time Ive seen whole new names is when the truck came from California and a made hunter became a novice again in a new show district, under a new name.
Or a track horse with a horrible name like jacks stinky or something equally tasteless

typical horse crazy my pink pony drivel from a bunch of horse crazy girls.
based on the usual crapola posted as 'questions' here...I expect the abandoned and crazy horse at kill pen horses to keep moving through North America like run way models at a fashion show. These kids only ask about the mundane... and when they do ask an actual question the rest of them boo hoo the legit answers they get....

I thought it was really disrespectful to the breeder to change a horse's name.
That's why I'm sticking with Mrs. Doc Ogles

I have never understood that myself. Most of our horses go by 'nicknames' that have evolved from their personalities. For example, we have an old mare whose name is King's Gold Smoke. She loves to roll in mud and when it's dry she rubs herself on the fence and clouds of dust come off her. Naturally we call her Dusty. We have Sailin' Jones who naturally evolved to 'Jonesy' too. I have never intentionally given a horse a whole new name. I've never seen the point, but if I did I sure wouldn't ask someone else.

People get in a hurry, and their brain vapor locks.
They want something catchy and memorable but that stuff can not be conjured up it is always spontaneous.
So they ask for input.
Unfortunately with little to no knowledge of the habits and horseanality of the equine in question it is difficult to impossible to come up with a really good one. So you get the usual drivel.

Fear. Fear of failure or of success or of what "other people" will say.
We tend to keep the previous name, feeling that it just might be correct. We bought a pony named Rascal ages ago. He was a rascal then and he's a rascal now. Of course we are mostly fearless, my wife having taken innumerable lessons in impromptu aviation from her OTTB when a lot younger and less fragile.

I don't know really... I think the people want to be applauded for getting a new horse and they want the whole world to witness all of it. They want validation.
