Why do people have followers on Facebook?
To me it seems egotistical to have people follow you but not be friends with them on Facebook.

when you send someone a friend request, you are automatically following their public posts, even if they never approve it - that's just how it works - these people didnt try to get followers....

Following is basically like seeing what the user shares and posts, but not necessarily personal things about them I guess
