Is their height an important part of their character or the story? Would the story be just as good if we had no idea how tall they were? If so, then don't mention it. I certainly would not say what it is, like "He was six foot eight." That is, unless he's trying out for the basketball team, or trying to date a tall girl, or anything where height might matter.

You don't really need too, since you should let your readers imagine it themselves.
But if the height is important.
- A boy stepped up beside me, not even reaching my shoulder.
- He ducked his head as he entered the room.
Don't say actually how tall your character is, instead give hints. Just don't let it seemed forced, but let it come natural.
Good luck and writing!

It's enough to say "The tall man entered the store."
You can also weave the description into the story a bit more: Eg: The man ducked to enter the room, but the top of his head still brushed the door frame.
Or
Abby had to tip-toe to peer over the counter.
Or you can let it slip through how others interact with the character. Eg: "How's it going, Shaun the Leprechaun?" Josh leaned his arm on Shaun's head. "How's life among the little people?"

Either by the actual measurement or in comparison with someone else (i.e. he looked up into the man's eyes).
