What is the name of the wooden structure consisting of intersecting pieces of wood forming diamond-shaped holes on the underside of the house?

I'm a 17-year-old student in Massachusetts who hasn't even begun driving. I don't have a permit and am completely new to this. Can you at least list down the steps necessary before I begin booking lessons? I'll figure the rest out later, but I just need to know what I need to do to proceed.

I'm a Junior in High School, and I am "scholastically eligible" to become a member of the NHS. However, my cumulative GPA kind of fluctuates, in that, it stays above 85, but some of my other classes (actually, just 1) drops in the "C" range. Before I actually join, could they kick me out for having a bad grade in just the one class? (Which is history, by the way)

The touchscreen won't respond, there's these vertical and, sometimes, horizontal lines going across the screen. It opens random apps and types random letters. Is it broken?????

Sequel takes place 3 months after original. So here's what happens:

First 3 pages- Tone is set and main protagonist is introduced.

Next 5 pages- Main protagonist bonds with someone close to her (her sister) after some serious events in the previous book.

Next 4 pages (Under development)- Main protagonist explains her past during and BEFORE previous book.

I am a first time author. I showed my manuscript to some strangers and they said they liked it. I edited and edited for two months now. Now that I cannot edit anymore, what should I do? Self-publish or send it to a publisher? I do not have an agent and I can't afford an editor. What should I do?
