Are Islam, Christianity and Judaism all derived from the same thing?

They just have different views on Jesus and Muhammed right.

the word in arabic "muslim".. means simply by definition "one who submits to the will of God"..

Did Moses? Did Jesus? Did Abraham? Did Adam? yes yes yes yes.. So by shere definition, they are muslims in the arabic definition of the word..

WE muslims believe in all the biblical prophets as true prophets of God.. Jesus is mentioned in our Quran more times than Mohammed was mentioned..

we cannot call ourselves muslims if we deny them..

We mulsims believe God sent numerous prophets to all times, all cultures and places on earth to spread his message and commandents.. Just no one wrote down his message, so they commandments got distorted through time by word of mouth.. Finally the Quran was written down during Mohammeds life, so it was made sure to be pure and unchanged.. its all the same message.. the Sharia law, is the same as the 10 commandments

No. Islam CLAIMS to be from Abraham, just as Judaism and Christianity are, but there's really no proof that Mo is a descendant of Ishmael. It's much like many religions that want to claim some sort of authority or claim to God and His blessings - if they claim something like lineage to the one who received the original blessing, then nobody can question them. It's like Catholicism. They claim Peter to have been the first Pope, and so claim that every priest is blessed under him. Yet, they deny James, the half-brother of Jesus, who was also a leader of the early Church, and of whom Peter was actually a little afraid in terms of authority. And they have to reject James because otherwise that would mess up their whole doctrine on Mary being a forever-virgin.

Now, if you'll look at the characteristics of God (Yahweh) and Allah, you'll see they're nowhere near being the same (the God of the Jews/Christians died for His people so that by accepting Jesus, we'll be allowed to enter into Heaven, whereas Allah makes his people die for him and MAYBE he'll allow them into paradise).

So no, they're not the same gods, nor are they all derived from the same "thing".

    The differences are far deeper.

    Judaism is a religion.

Christianity is a religion based on a religion (Judaism Light) with a lot of confusion over things well understood in Judaism but those explanations are mostly ignored by Christianity.

Islam is a religion/political system/social system created by a bandit chieftain to retain and grow his power, all based on Christianity, but cherry picked (as Christianity did with Judaism).

The Jews and Christians have different views on Jehovah God, but Jehovah is the same to both faiths. Islam worships a different God altogether. All claim a spiritual lineage back to Abraham, but the Bible states that Abraham's son Isaac (not Ishmael) was the son whose lineage would be a blessing to the whole world. It is through Isaac's bloodline that Jesus was born.

No they all believe in the mythological legend of the creature capital G God who also has other names pending language but since we're communicating in English we will stick with God. What's different is they're views on prophets and what they have done or if they are legitimate. Jews have no view on Jesus and Jews and Christians have no veow on Muhammad.

My Answer = Yes they are ... all religions descend from one major premise.

Though it was not yet recognized as religion, "fear" was the primary source from which religion sprung.

So long ago, the fear of thunder, lightning, wind, earthquakes, volcanoes, harsh weather, celestial events,

and fire, started the menacing search for someone-or-something to blame it all on, and attempt to appease.

Necessity became the mother of invention, and therein, became 'religion'.

After that, the rule book went out-the-window ... and everyone began creating, and worshiping, their own.

They are all false religion so they were all brought into existance by Satan the devil. We know this because Jesus said, "test them by their fruits" They all hate, go to war and kill each other. celebrate pagan holidays and are false religions. to find the truth go here. www.jw.org
