Can you buy old/broken iPhones from Apple?

I mean, what does Apple do with all the old iPhones/iPods/iPads, etc. The ones that don t get sold when a new upgraded version is released? is there a way to buy them cheap? and what happens with the ones that are broken, and turned in under warranty? can you buy broken ones cheap from Apple? where? how?

    I can't buy broken ones cheap from Apple.It is second-hand which is not durable.

    They recycle them. They wouldn't sell broken iPhones. They would sell refurbished ones.
