California knife laws question.?

I recently bought a knife and I had a question if it is considered a switchblade.

Here are the characteristics:

It springs open, but you need to apply pressure to a little stud on the spine of the knife (a lot of pressure for that matter).

When the blade is closed inward, it has a mechanism that holds it in place.

The blade is around 3 1/2 inches long I would say, handle is roughly 5.

Also, the stud I mentioned earlier is the back part of the blade.

Would I be able to carry it attached to my belt or jeans legally, or would I be able to keep it in my glove department in my car?

Thanks for all answers.

From the legal point of view that's not a switchblade in California.

You wont have a problem if you keep it in your car, but I would avoid carrying it around. California knife laws change from county to county, and like in NY and some other states there is no uniformity on how police officers interpret knife laws.

Because of the gang problems many officers have the philosophy of "It's not my job to decide if that's knife is legal, that's between you and the prosecutor." So even if you eventually get exonerated, you would be given a hard time defending yourself.
