I have a fading black horse which draws all the flies and has had problems with tersolos (flesh eating worm) that comes from fly eggs under the skin. He would get one tersolo a month before I started spraying. So I made my own. I have used this for over a month and no tersolo and I can watch the flies avoid him like the plague. He seems to like it as he allows me to WIPE(not spray) it on his ears and face. YOu can spray everywhere else. Here is my receipe and it should only cost you about $41 per year. Yield: 4 (32oz) Spray Bottles

10 Cups White vinegar ( I buy the huge industrial size from Costco)

    5 Cups Water

7 Tbsp Lemon Eucalyptus Oil (Ebay)

5 Tsp. Citronella ESSENTIAL Oil (Ebay)

You Can buy the Oils in 8-16 oz Bottles off of Ebay:

Lemon Eucalyptus is $16 per 8oz bottle ( I buy this)

Citronella ESSENTIAL is the same amt.

Be sure that the Citronella is ESSENTIAL oil and NOT the kind you use in Tiki torches. The tiki torch kind is not for skin and is flammable on the skin. The essential is for massaging and for skin types. If in doubt as the seller and tell them what you are using it for.

I spray him once a day in the a.m.

    Good Luck!

Effective fly control starts with daily manure removal, emptying all standing water in old buckets etc, and buying actual $20.00 fly spray, such as Endure. Cheap fly spray such as "Bronco" do not work, nor do home made fly sprays. They last about as long as it takes for the owner to get in their car and drive away from the farm...leavinng the horse to suffer under a never ending attack of fllys. Buy a good bottle of fly spray.
