It depends on the type of ant. Small ones like carbs and fat, so mix up some coffee creamer (has both things) with boric acid. Place in small, shallow containers, like jar lids or bottle caps and put near entrance that ants are using. They take it back to their colony and it kills them.

For a natural way to kill larger ants, like carpenter ants, use sugar! Just make sure it will kill them. Fill a steep-sided jar or glass with sugar water or even juice. They will go in and drown.

Also, keep the area (esp. kitchens) clean, not just floors but counters. Don't leave food or dirty dishes around. Make sure to clean under appliances.

your best bet and first thing you should do is follow the line of ants coming in. Are they walking in a row? if so then you can find out what's attracting them (check where they're coming from and going to and eliminate the problem). Ahhh you're using sugar, and sugar attracts them. Try salt instead. But you could use a spray outdoors like Raid (if you don't have kids or animals around).

I've used equal amounts of sugar & baking soda mixed with enough water to make a paste. The sugar attracts them; when they eat it they take it back to the colony, spread it & explode from what I'm told. We tried everything but this worked, it took 3 or 4 days until we didn't see anymore

Cinnamon has worked for me, but I've never used cinnamon sugar because sugar attracts ants.

Well, I don't know, but it sounds like you got played. Ants would rather love cinnamon in my opinion. But I could be wrong, so in any case, I'd say try plain cinnamon instead of cinnamon sugar.

Get some diatomaceous earth at Home Depot- it will dry out and kill the ants.

I doubt cinnamon works- it comes from a tree, and ants live around trees anyway.

It's chalk that works like that. Or crushed spearmint leaves.

Cinnamon does nothing and sugar only attracts ants.

Go to a store and buy 'Holiday Bug Bombs'. When you get home, take one of the cans...hold it upside down and spray (on the outside) around ALL windows and doors. Ants will NOT cross where the spray is.

1 part of borax mixed with 2 parts of sugar or honey, place in jam lids near the areas out of wet weather . give it a few days and they should be gone
