What to do with a bleeding bird?

I saw my cat playing with something so I went to see what it was and it was a bird. I picked it up and noticed it was bleeding from its chest and back, but not too badly. I put it in a box and gave it some water. It's 1:30 in the morning right now so I can't take it anywhere. But what can I do to help it survive until morning? And who should I call when it is?

Ok, well the little bird might not make it through the night.. Well it depends on if your cat broke any ribs or if it deeply wounded the bird. If it's just a little bleeding then it might actually make it. But with out any X-rays you won't know for sure if it broke anything. So what I recommend to do, is if you have any antibacterial cremes that you can but on the bird, do that. To stop the bleeding put a big roll on bandage, it might cover the wings but it's ok. It's only for the night. Oh and make sure to put a gauze pad over the wound first then but the roll on bandage. Make sure the bird can not get out of the box. Make sure it has water available do not force feed it water that dose not help. And lastly please take it to a veterinarian. Because you alone can not. Save the bird, it will most likely die. Because it's in extreme pain and the chest area is sensitive. So please take it to a vet in the morning. Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Use corn starch to cover the areas where there is blood, it will block it. If you have no corn starch, possibly put tissues over the injured blood parts and keep them there to stop the bleeding.
