I have no family or friends.?
Im a 48 year old lifelong bachelor who has never been in a relationship, never dated and never been in love. For decades now, I have chronic major depression and didn't respond to 6 anti-depressants so the doctors gave up on me. I survived 2 suicide attempts. I don't have any family and I have no friends. I can't take the aloneness anymore. I can't afford counseling. What do I do?

One thing I know for sure is that it's never too late to turn your life around. So don't let your age get you down! http://read.bi/1CRzvQC :D
The first step towards fixing things is realizing you have some problems in your life, which you've done here by asking this question.
Next you're going to need to find someone you can trust and confide in. Someone who will listen to you. Sometimes when things get difficult, and we can't fix them by ourselves, we reach out for help, which is not a bad thing at all. The only way of overcoming things is not trying to get over them or get under them, but through them.
Here is something you might find helpful to read: http://bit.ly/1O77U7a
I know depression is really difficult to deal with. There's the whole stigma and people not understanding you, and in general it gets in the way of living your day to day life. I understand. I struggle with it as well. But remember, you are not your depression. And you are a very strong person (believe it or not) for having dealt with it and surviving through it up till now. Just think about it. You got through all your toughest days. That's something to be proud of.
I'm sorry you have no family. But you can start one.
You might not have friends now, but you can make some.
And remember: you don't need to have friends necessarily in order to be happy. Learning to enjoy your own company is great.
I'm sorry you can't afford counseling. Maybe you can save up for it? In the meantime, if you go to the website I linked above, there are trained active listeners to listen and support you throughout anything you face. The website also has self help guides just like the one I linked above.
Stay strong and keep trying.

On a good day go to the park and walk around.
When you get tired sit down wherever others are and read a book or have a radio with you.It is possible someone will ask how you're doing or say hello.
this way you can meet a friend.
