Why is it that the thought of Man Utd having success and winning things makes people so angry and ruffled?
It's pretty amazing really.
Manchester Utd haven't been seriously competing for major trophies for 3 years now.
Yet STILL nobody can stand the thought of United winning, every new manager or player they get is "overrated" and "garbage" and people are desperately trying to convince themselves it will all end in failure.
And not just rival clubs either, random fans of clubs from the lower leagues as well as PL and European fans seem genuinely terrified and enraged by the idea of Manchester Utd being on top again.

It's the same with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in their respective pub leagues. People want to see the big clubs fail.
Particularly if they've been on top for such a long time as United were.
The fans also like to talk trash about other clubs, which can get irritating, especially when it's your neighbour that's never been to Manchester.

Yeah I've never understood why fans of League 1/2 level clubs like Barnet, Oxford, Newcastle, Cardiff hate United. They've probably met like 5 times in their history and yet they hate then with a passion lol.
And yeah, the thought of United being on top again has got some people so nervous and angry that they've had to delude themselves into thinking that Mourinho is finished as a manager because of 3 bad months in a career which he's won 8 league titles and 2 CL trophies and that Martial, Ibrahimovic, Rashford are nothing but overrated attackers who wouldn't make it at a top club.

Travel the world and ask anyone which football/soccer teams they have heard of - Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United are the first teams mentioned. Then Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus, etc.
We fans of the game would like to have more recognition that there are fifty plus OTHER teams in La Liga, Serie A, and Premier League that rarely get mentioned or, if they are mentioned - it's to spread rumours that their best players are bound for Man United, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
It's a constant noise of media speculation that drives us crazy..Thank God for Leicester City!

Because despite the fact that United are no longer challenging for major trophies as you pointed out, the fans arrogant and deluded attitude has remained intact.
Every year we have to hear about how United are gonna sign, Neymar, Messi, Bale, Ramos, Jesus.. etc, and win the league, win the Champions League and dominate football forever.
Yet what are the end results? You end up singing Fellaini, Luke Shaw, Blind like players, who inevitably flop, and then end up finishing, 5th, 7th, getting eliminated from the Champions League group stages, and generally being a complete laughing stock.
Your fans blow smoke up your as5ses all summer and you never live up to the hype, but remain arrogant buffoons.

They're so afraid they know we'll be back. The appointment of mourinho has them shîtting themselves, they know it's time. Arsenal fans seem most bothered by anything go do with United. I think it's because of their two FA Cups. United go downhill and arsenal finally win some trophies. And they know its all about to change again

It's only happening in your imagination, it's a case of confirmation bias, United fans are desperate to prove how hated they are, as that makes them feel as though United are still big and special enough to command attention, and therefore everyone is obviously just jealous
