how do I download the skyrim legendary unofficial patch?
I signed up for an account on Nexus. I downloaded the file and it is in some odd 7z format. Hundreds of thousands of people have downloaded this patch. I can't find free software to use this 7z file format that works. The download manager doesn't work either. It tells me firefox can't open this type of content. Is it really this difficult?

could download nexus mod manager, it does everything for you. you just have to download and enable the mods.

Sounds like you have already downloaded the mod, you just need to unzip/un-compress the download. You can do this with the 7-zip program.

Search for Mod organizer on nexus mods and install it.
You can use 7-zip to extract files, but you shouldn't need to extract them manually. In most cases you can click download through manager; it will download through the manager, and you can install it through mod organizer. You just need to set it up correctly.
