Baby bird with broken leg!! Help?
This is the second one I've found this year, it's really young, barely any feathers, and he's in a shoebox right now, I've been giving him a heated up water bottle to lay on, with a towel. And I read I could give Gatorade but he doesn't seem interested. The only thing I found wrong was a broken leg and some wounds I washed and put aloe on. I've heard of making a splint but idk if I can with it being the bone that attaches to his pelvis. Idk if it's possible. I know the best thing is to take him to a wildlife rehab but my mom refuses to drive so far. Id like to become certified in rehab one day, but right now I'm just trying my best with this birdy :(, If you have any tips that'd be great!! thank you!!

NO gatorade!!! Keep him warm, feed him bread soaked in well-beaten egg with a couple drops of milk. If he's afraid of your hand use a tweezers. Never water a baby bird. You will drown them. After you discover exactly what type of bird he is you can google for more specific food. Stop feeding at dark. Start at sun up. Feed only until the crop is full. feed again when empty.
You can try wrapping the straightened leg with masking tape but if you leave it alone it will heal enough for him to function. There are one legged wild birds all over the place. They just can't usually breed.
EDITED TO ADD; and thank you for doing this. Mother earth wants all her children.
EDIT II they rest and heal best in a dim box and KEEP IT CLEAN AND DRY

Don't try to tend to the broken leg on your own. Take the bird to a vet.
It's important to determine the species in order to know how you can feed the bird. If it's featherless, it probably won't eat on its own. You need to feed it by putting food directly in its beak... but still, you have to know the species or at least family so that you know what to give it: boiled and blended egg, boiled meat, worms... It would help if you posted a photo, or google some photographs of the birds that are common in your vincinity. Nestlings usually differ from the parents in terms of color and proportions, but one thing doesn't change: the shape of the beak. It's very important. Even if you can't determine the species, it will give you an idea what the bird eats, because the shape of the beak always depends on the type of the food.
