Christians/Atheists: So it turns out the Universe isn't real.?

It is, in fact, a simulation; a computer-game of sorts, designed by a lonely creature not unlike ourselves, for its amusement. While he used to play us actively, and even once took on an avatar for a truly immersive experience, he soon moved on to a different project, while leaving us to run in the background. As the simulation runs the non-player-character race of Humanity develops and develops, till its technology can peer out to the edges of the simulation, and finally discern the nature of the simulation itself. As they gain more and more understanding of the simulation, they discover a rudimentary way to contact the simulation's creator. Entirely surprised and rather delighted by the ingenuity of its creation, the creator decides to respond, and establishes an active dialogue with simulation earth, fully enlightening us on the nature of our reality as the idle pet project of an individual.

Atheists/Christians: in this hypothetical scenario, would you acknowledge this creator as God?

Firstly, in order to simulate the universe, that would mean there is a need for a computer that actually has to be orders of magnitude larger than the universe.

But the universe where that computer is located would also need a creator, unless it does not need one. Although, through the limited perspective of the entities in the simulated universe, it would appear the the programmer is some kind of a god, the point is that he cannot be, because he would not have infinite knowledge of what will happen next, needing the simulation to run its course to find out.

So, that is just displacing the problem, not resolving it. Although it is conceivable that lazy intellects would give up and claim that they found "god".

I like to put it another way. The universe is a kaleidoscope and hell is a black hole.

Greek 'kalos' = beautiful, and 'teidos' = form.

We can look at the universe as one of the tossed and tumbled particles of coloured plastic within one of the kaleidoscope’s chambers, and see nothing but chaos and rage. We can look at the universe through the lens of the kaleidoscope and marvel at its beauty. We can realise that God is the maker of this universal kaleidoscope and worship. At the point when lawlessness threatens to turn the whole universe into one huge black hole, God will create new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness will dwell. Those who worship will be part of that re-creation, and rejoice.

Reality has been written down for us, to guide us on how to view God and His creation. And the Creator so identified Himself with us that He became one of us, yet without sin, to restore us and creation to what it should be. In the Bible, Romans chapter 8, it speaks of the apparent futility of creation, yet how it will be liberated and revitalised. The Christian outlook is optimistic, rejoicing in the miracle of life. The atheistic outlook is pessimistic, finding no meaning in life. Reality is found in God, and in seeing things God's way.

In your ridiculous scenario, HOW COULD I acknowlege ANYONE as a Creator when I would not be real in that scenario to DO any sort of acknowleging?

Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. (Romans 5:2)

Yeah? Why is the universe so damn big, if the game is all about us?

No. I'd acknowledge him as a programmer. A rather **** programmer, in fact.
